Competition time: Design a library card for the new Birkby & Fartown Library

We’re looking for a new design for our library cards and we’d love your help. Submit a design or a photograph of the local area, which should show your love for libraries and reading and/or your favourite place in Birkby or Fartown, by April 9 2021 and it could appear on the library cards used at the new Birkby & Fartown Library! Winning entries will also receive an additional small prize.

How to enter

  • You can use a printed version of the form below or plain A4 paper for a design. A photograph of your design should then be submitted to frontline.services@kirklees.gov.uk Please retain your original design.
  • Please email local area photo entries to the same email address. Please retain your original photo.
  • When submitting entries, please title your email ‘Birkby Fartown Library Card Competition’ and include the following in the body of the email: name of entrant; entrant’s age; preferred contact details (ie phone number and/or email address); name of parent/carer (for children aged upto 16);
  • Also include the line: I have read and agree to the terms and conditions/As the legal guardian of a child upto age 16 I have read and agree to the terms and conditions. (Delete as appropriate)

Terms and conditions

  • One entry per person
  • Entries will not be considered if received after the closing date of April 9 2021
  • Entry is open to any child, young person or adult who is living/educated/working in the Birkby Fartown area.
  • Entries will be judged in the following three categories: Up to age 11, age 12 to 16 and Adult Category
  • Drawn designs must be created using watercolour, acrylic markers, crayon, and/or pen and ink. Work in pencil will not be accepted due to reproduction issues. Please only use drawings/imagery, not text.
  • Photograph entries must be clear and as high quality as possible.
  • No responsibility can be accepted for entries lost or damaged
  • Artwork or photos submitted must be the entrants own original work and property and must not be subject to copyright or ownership by any other person
  • Kirklees libraries reserve the right to amend the winning entries to conform to the dimensions of the library card and/or to accommodate text
  • Submitted entries must not have been published before
  • Copyright of the new library card designs will belong to Kirklees libraries
  • Kirklees libraries may display and reproduce winning designs without limitation or compensation
  • The winner agrees to the use of his or her name and photograph in publicity about the competition
