Football crazy? We’ve got an amazing author team for you this Tuesday! Join Matt Oldfield and Tom Palmer at 11am on Tuesday 28th July for a fun, action-packed and exciting football-themed edition of Library Adventures Live! Matt will be reading from his awesome new book Johnny Ball: Accidental Football Genius and Tom will be entertaining us with extracts from his Football Academy series. They’ll be inviting children to get creative, in a session that will inspire teamwork, bouncing back and achieving dreams.

Matt Oldfield is the author of Unbelievable Football and Johnny Ball: Accidental Football Genius as well as one half of the brothers behind the Ultimate Football Heroes and Classic Football Heroes books series. He’s worked with The National Literacy Trust, The National Football Museum, Beanstalk and Football Beyond Borders to deliver literacy workshops aimed at football fans and reluctant readers.

Author Tom Palmer, best known for his Football Academy and Foul Play series, has been the official writer for the Premier League Reading Stars scheme for five years. It was reading about football that changed the course of his life. He wasn’t keen on reading when he was young. His mum was worried about him because he didn’t do very well at school. She encouraged him to read about football in newspapers, magazines and books. Gradually he came to love books and, from that point, his life changed. Now, as well as being an author and a huge football fan, he has an international reputation in reader development and has travelled around the world to train librarians and teachers in techniques to encourage boys to read.
